Flooding Disaster Response

Rev. Jason Burnham
July 9, 2025

Greetings Trinity Family,

Words on the page seem woefully inadequate to convey the deep sadness and grief we are experiencing following the catastrophic flooding that struck the Texas Hill Country late last week. This unfathomable tragedy, where so many lives were lost, pierces us deeply and on so many levels.

In moments like these, when sorrow feels overwhelming and answers feel scarce, we cling to the unshakable truth that God is still loving, still sovereign, and still present for us all. We know His redeeming grace is at work even in the darkest of valleys, and we rest in the assurance of eternal salvation for all those who entrust their lives to Jesus Christ. It's in this spirit of faithfulness that I am calling on the people of the Trinity Conference to respond with compassion and action.

First, please continue to pray fervently for the families mourning loved ones, for the survivors struggling with trauma, and for the search and rescue teams and disaster response teams continuing their tireless work in dangerous conditions.

Second, if you are able, make a financial contribution to the Trinity Conference Disaster Relief Fund, which will be used to support relief and recovery efforts. We have determined this is the most effective and efficient way to help support GMC churches and other ministry partners in the flood-affected areas.

Finally, last weekend we shared a request on social media from the Mid-Texas Conference for flood buckets filled with cleaning supplies. We do not have a designated collection point in the Trinity Conference, but instead are asking each local church to coordinate the collection and delivery of the flood buckets and supplies by partnering with other local churches, or on their own. The Mid-Texas Conference has a list of collection sites on their website.

We are a connectional people. When one part of the body suffers, we all suffer. Let us bear witness to Christ's love in tangible ways in the days ahead. Thank you for being a Conference that shows up, prays deeply, and gives generously.

Peace,
Jason
