Disaster Response

Empowering, Equipping, Educating, & Encouraging local churches in the Trinity Conference of the Global Methodist Church to be active in disaster response ministries.

E’s of Trinity Conference Disaster Response Ministry

  • Empowering

We empower your church to share the love of Christ through disaster response.

  • Equipping

We equip your church with resources; before, during, and after a disaster. This may include guidance, ways to obtain training, program administration tools, and possibly even physical equipment or specific non-recurrent funding.

  • Educating

We educate your church on how to identify and access sustainable resources within and around your community. We also educate your church on the best way to coordinate and utilize those resources.

  • Encouraging

We exist alongside your church to encourage your efforts to include Christ in your disaster response ministry.

We carry God’s light to the world in the darkest of times

Disasters can be a result of natural occurrences or man-made events. Either way, disasters are usually quite devastating and often cause an overwhelming sense of helplessness and hopelessness; especially within the communities impacted.

Disaster response often starts in your own community, but can be shared as far, and wide, as the Lord leads.

The Trinity Conference encourages all local churches to be prepared to respond to disasters within their communities by offering physical and financial assistance, spiritual hope, healing and love to those whose lives have been darkened by a disaster.

In alignment with the GMC mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ and spreading scriptural holiness across the globe, we invite and encourage you to follow the prompting of the Holy Spirit to share the good news of Christ through disaster response activities.

A disaster is defined as an unexpected and sudden event which creates widespread destruction, death, and/or injury that overwhelms local emergency services and requires outside support.

How to get started

We can connect you with the DRT representative in your Area, who can provide:

  1. More information about local disaster best-practices throughout the GMC,
  2. A face-to-face, zoom, conference, or telephone meeting for you/your church, and/or
  3. Guidance commensurate with you/your church’s interest level in disaster ministries.

Even if you aren’t sure what it will look like for you or your church to become active in disaster response, please contact us with your questions. You’ll never know if you don’t ask.

Our Partners

The Global Methodist Church partners with these organizations for disaster response. You can volunteer and donate directly to these partner organizations during times of disaster, or any time throughout the year.

What sets us apart?

So much of disaster relief is humanitarian aid that can be done by anyone, but as the church, we have a responsibility to share that our love of Jesus is what compels us to respond. This doesn’t mean we force people to hear a gospel presentation before receiving our help, but that we talk about Jesus while we’re responding simply because we love Him so much and can’t help but share!

If you need help doing this, the Trinity Conference Disaster Response Team can teach you how.

The following is from a client who was able to receive assistance from the Trinity Conference after her home was severely damaged by Hurricane Beryl…

“As I went through my day today, I didn’t get discouraged. I said ‘God has a plan!’ I’m soooooo grateful! I can’t thank you enough!”
