Following their election of delegates to the Convening General Conference of the Global Methodist Church, they have already begun their preparation for the gathering in Costa Rica this September. Jason Burnham (clergy) and Oscar Garza (lay) were chosen as co-chairs of the delegation, and delegates have requested the legislative committees on which to serve. While many provisional conferences have also had their elections, there are others still in the process of organizing for what will be a history-making event.
Each delegation is responsible for providing for their representatives' expenses. Many on our delegation will pay those expenses themselves, but I believe that our conference churches will graciously come together to assist those we have selected to represent us at conference.
I’m asking all of us to join in an effort to provide support, particularly for those who are challenged by the expense of travel, lodging and other costs. I hope each church in our conference will receive a love offering in June for that purpose.
I’m certain that we will raise more than enough for our delegate expenses. Any additional funds will go to assist our international delegates.
