Greetings Trinity Family,
What do we believe about the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the saving work of Jesus Christ, and the Triune God’s power to make us new and lead us into a perfect relationship with Him?
In a historic vote on September 5, 2026, our Global Methodist General Conference in Johannesburg answered those questions by adopting the Articles of Faith that will be published as part of the Global Methodist Church’s Book of Doctrines and Discipline.
I praise God for this holy moment!
It may sound like work reserved for clergy and theology professors at our GM-approved seminaries, but it matters deeply to all of us, as the Articles form a firm foundation for what we preach and teach in our local churches across the Trinity Conference.
Rooted in the Methodist Articles of Religion and the Evangelical United Brethren Confession of Faith, this document represents the culmination of work to define the foundations of our faith that has lasted decades.
Anointed leaders and gifted theological minds from across the globe worked together to craft something essential to the life of the Church: a clear, holistic, gospel-centered expression of our Wesleyan faith.
This work has undergone rigorous and prayerful review, drawing upon faithful thinkers who began considering what a truly global Wesleyan doctrinal statement should look like even before the Global Methodist Church was formed.
These Articles of Faith will help pastors and congregations answer essential questions with confidence and invite people into something more than religious knowledge; a living relationship with Jesus Christ.
We will see its importance in the everyday ministry of our churches: where the tenets of our faith are taught in membership classes and small groups, in the conversations we have with children and students, and in the way we explain our beliefs to people searching for hope.
My prayer is that these Articles will help our churches become places where truth is proclaimed, grace is experienced, and the Holy Spirit forms people more and more into the likeness of Christ. To God be the glory!
