I’ve lost count of the number of hurricanes I’ve experienced over these many years. However, they all come with various levels of trauma.
Beryl, with its unexpected track changes that brought it over some of the most populated areas of our Conference, will be remembered as one of the more challenging storms of my life. I suspect that this is true for many of you.
Any disaster calls forth the best in our prayerful response, and Beryl has asked the best of us. We are starting to assess the damage through the Trinity Conference. We are also already receiving offers of help from around the connection, and will keep all aware of the needs as we know of them.
We are asking those of you who are able to prayerfully consider donating to our Conference disaster relief fund — the proceeds of which will go to help restore churches, pastors' homes and parsonages that have been damaged by Beryl. (CLICK HERE to donate)
To help in our assessment, our Conference leadership teams including our disaster coordinator and your Area Presiding Elders and Connecting Elders are making contact with each member church in our Conference.
For now, check on the churches and church friends in your area and lend support as you are able. Remember our foundational approach to disaster response is directed not from an institutional agency but through relationships at the local church level— where the church body is most effective at serving others in need.
