On September 5, 2026, the General Conference of the Global Methodist Church adopted fifteen Articles of Faith, establishing a clear foundation for what we believe, teach, and practice as a worldwide Wesleyan community. As your Conference Lay Leaders, we were blessed to be among the Trinity Conference Lay Delegates representing you during this historic event!
For us as laypersons, these Articles are more than theological statements. They are a declaration of who God is, who we are, how God works through the church, how we are saved, how we grow, and our understanding of Christโs return and eternal life in Godโs new creation.
Rooted in Scripture, historic Christianity, and our Wesleyan heritage, the Articles affirm our belief in the Holy Trinity, our salvation through Jesus Christ, the authority of Scripture, and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. They remind us that salvation is God's gift of grace received through faith, and that genuine faith produces good works.
Particularly important to our identity is the call to holiness. We are not simply saved from sin; we are called to grow toward Christian perfectionโloving God wholeheartedly and loving our neighbors as ourselves.
What does this mean for the laity of Trinity Conference?
It means our faith must extend beyond Sunday worship. We are called to study Scripture, participate in the sacraments, nurture our families, serve our communities, share the Gospel, and demonstrate Christ's love through our daily lives.
The Articles also remind us that the Church exists not merely to sustain itself but to participate in God's mission of redeeming the world. Laity are not spectators in that mission; we are essential participants.
As Global Methodists, we now share a clearly articulated statement of faith that unites us across nations, cultures, and generations, regardless of the language we speak or where we live.
Let us embrace these Articles not simply as doctrines to affirm, but as truths to liveโstrengthening our discipleship, deepening our holiness, and inspiring us to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
Our faith is our foundation. Our discipleship is our response. Our mission is the world.
