Tim and Katie Turner will Serve in the Tanzania Annual Conference

The Board of Ministry of the Trinity Conference is pleased to announce that Rev. Dr. Tim Turner has been approved as the first missionary of the Trinity Conference. Tim and his wife Katie will serve in ministry with theTanzania Annual Conference, our partner Conference in the Global Methodist Church.

Tim’s call to ministry began in childhood at the age of five, nurtured over a lifetime of faithful discipleship, local church leadership, theological training, and shared ministry alongside Katie. For the past five years, San Augustine Global Methodist Church has hosted missionaries and championed global outreach with uncommon generosity. This congregation will now serve as a primary sending church for the Turners, celebrating the fruit of years of prayer, encouragement, and missional investment.

Tim and Katie, along with their daughters, Sybil and Emmy, will transition to the mission field this summer. Following the conclusion of Tim’s local ministry season, the family will take one month to rest and reconnect before relocating to Mwanza, in the southwest region of Tanzania. Mwanza sits near Uganda and Kenya and serves as a strategic hub within the East African economic corridor, positioning the Turners for ministry to pastors, church leaders, and congregations across the Tanzania Annual Conference.

As a missionary of the Trinity Conference, Tim will be financially supported by a variety of individuals and churches — including many within the Trinity Conference. (Follow the Turners in Tanzania on Facebook and/or contact the Turners directly if you are interested in learning more about this opportunity.)

San Augustine Global Methodist Church will be joined by Tim’s home church, Woodcrest Methodist, and other congregations across the Trinity family in celebrating this milestone moment of mission. This appointment marks a defining chapter in the life of the Trinity Conference—one in which we witness God’s call, the church’s affirmation, and the joy of sending our own into global ministry together.

Conference Superintendent Rev. Jason Burnham shared, “Tim and Katie embody the heart of Trinity—faithful, personal, connectional, and willing to go wherever God leads. We are delighted to celebrate the Turner’s as our first deployed missionary family, and we invite every church in our Trinity family to join us in prayer for their ministry and for our partners across the Tanzania Annual Conference.”

Above all, this moment is one of celebration. God has called. The church has affirmed. And now, the Trinity family rejoices together in this historic moment.
