The Assistant Youth Director is a full-time position working with the Youth Director in developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to ministry for teens while serving as a spiritual leader and role model. He or she should possess leadership and communication skills, and should be prepared and able to engage effectively with both students and parents. He or she must prioritize safety and security for students. In addition to discipling the students already involved within the church, the Assistant Youth Director must also be engaged in the Shreveport/Bossier community to support students and families.
Expectations:
- Assist with supervising youth interns.
- Coordinate and be present in all student related activities including but not limited to, youth leadership team meetings, retreats, camps, MYF/weekly activities, Sunday school, special events, etc.
- Communicate effectively with the Youth Director, interns, parents, students, and all volunteers.
- Recruit volunteer teams for food, MYF volunteers, Sunday school, small groups, etc.
- Preach and teach effectively, clearly, and with relevant information to help the students grow in their faith
- Work in collaboration with the FMC program team
- Be present and involved in other student ministries (i.e., Step-Up) when time allows.
- Abide by Safe Sanctuary/Ministry Safe and mandatory reporting guidelines and rules.
- Meet weekly with FMC staff
- Be willing to learn and use all forms of technology to grow the Kingdom on the students' level: social media, sound, lights, pro presenter, canva, etc.
- Find creative and fun ways to make MYF and other weekly events feel new and fun
- Maintain a teachable spirit, with a willingness to continue education through readings, conferences, and/or seminary
- Construct new and exciting ways to do missions inside and outside of where we live.
- Grow and develop a leadership team that helps the community and is willing to speak and lead small groups
- Maintain spiritual health in order to be spiritually effective for the students
